Pour moi, l’un des attraits du geocaching, c’est de me permettre la découverte de coin hors des sentiers battus, de ces endroits que je n’aurais vraisemblablement pas eut l’idée de parcourir sans cette incitation à trouver une cache. Ainsi ce lac de Praver, petit point sur une carte dans les environs de Chamrousse.
J’en profite d’abord pour trouver une première cache au lac Luitel, mais habillé dans ce lieu fréquenté et bordé d’une route. Je rallie ensuite à pied le hameau de la Croix et prends un chemin partant dans la forêt et rejoignant une route forestière. Je mise sur le fait qu’elle doit être interdite à la circulation et me déshabille. D’après la carte, il me faut quitter celle ci par un chemin sur la droite. Je m’engage dans un premier chemin qui me ramène au hameau. Demi tour et retour sur la route forestière. Un kilomètre plus loin, un autre chemin. En fait plutôt une large piste qui descend en virages. Ensuite, le parcours devient plus aléatoire, avec un chemin qui disparaît parfois, devient une simple trace ou se transforme en lit de ruisseau. Heureusement, le gps donne une indication de la direction à suivre. Une bonne descente se termine dans des monticules de branchages séchés laissés là après des coupes de bois. Le lac est juste là derrière, mais je ne le vois pas encore, et pars à la recherche de la cache. De là, je domine le lac que j’aperçois entre les arbres.
J’entreprends d’en faire le tour. Au centre d’une prairie d’herbes hautes, l’eau renvoie en miroir la végétation alentours, mais dès que je tente de m’approcher, de sortir du bois, mes pieds s’enfoncent dans l’eau. En fait la prairie est un marécage humide qui protège le petit lac central. Et tout autour la forêt comme un écrin. C’est un endroit qui vaut vraiment le coup d’être découvert en randonnue, mais qui, je l’espère, restera encore longtemps sauvage et secret.
For me, one of the attractions of geocaching is that it allows me to discover corners off the well-travelled paths, places that I probably would not have had the idea of exploring without the incentive to find a cache. Thus this lake of Praver, a small dot on a map in the vicinity of Chamrousse.
I first take the opportunity to find a first cache at Lake Luitel, but dressed in this busy place and bordered by a road. I then walk to the hamlet of La Croix and take a path going into the forest and joining a forest road. I count on the fact that it must be closed to traffic and I undress. According to the map, I have to leave it by a path on the right. I take the first path that leads me back to the hamlet. Half turn and return to the forest road. A kilometer further on, another path. In fact rather a wide track that goes down in curves. Then the route becomes more random, with a path that sometimes disappears, becomes a simple trace or turns into a stream bed. Fortunately, the gps gives an indication of the direction to follow. A good descent ends in mounds of dried branches left there after logging. The lake is just behind, but I don’t see it yet, and go looking for the cache. From there, I dominate the lake that I see between the trees.
I begin to walk around it. In the middle of a tall grass meadow, the water mirrors the surrounding vegetation, but as soon as I try to get closer, to get out of the woods, my feet sink into the water. In fact the meadow is a wet swamp that protects the small central lake. And all around the forest like a jewel case. It’s a place that is really worth discovering on a naked hike, but which I hope will remain wild and secret for a long time to come.
